I just got my nice little iOmega StorCenter and been working with it for the past few days. I got the 1TB Raid 1 edition to see how long it will last me now that baby Alexia is on its way.
Anyways, I wanted to configure iMovie to see the movies in the NAS storage. After much googling, I found something that worked. Just fire up a terminal and type away:
defaults write -app iMovie allowNV -bool true
Also, remember that iMovie,iDVD searches the root of the volumes for the following directories:
- iDVD Projects
- iMovie Projects
- iMovie Events
So I recommend either putting those directories on the root or creating symbolic links to them.
This has been a true life saver I had no idea about if it where not for my friend Aaron Roberson. My issue was that I suffered a crash on my box and eclipse was open. The configuration got messed up and it could not load ColdFusion Builder or Flash Builder. I have an Eclipse JEE install with CF and Flash builder as plugins on top. For some strange reason the Eclipse installer reported the plugins as installed, but no perspectives available. So what do I do? Reinistall everything again?
Well, this little gem is hidden. So click on Help > Install Software… and look at the following:
Click on the already installed link and you will get another dialog, where click on the configuration tab. Look for a stable configuration you remember running on and then hit the “Revert” button and voila!! Eclipse configuration restored. What a life saver!!

With my friend Josh Highland we decided to upgrade my MacBook Pro Unibody style with 8 GB of sweet sweet RAM. Of course, geeks that we are, we video taped the whole journey!
Since I got my new netbook, I decided to dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu 10.4. I have been a long time Mac user, but I can finally say that windows 7 is so much better than its predecessors. It doesn’t mean to say that it has its inevitable quirks and weird’s things an operating system of these days should not have anymore, like when I want to be an admin, I WANT TO BE AN ADMIN!!! LET ME DO WHAT I WANT!!!
Anyways, I found that permissions in windows 7 are absolute nonsense and just plain stupid. Apart from that, I have been trying out the suite of live apps, like, live writer, live photo gallery and live mail. I can totally say I really like them, they are simple, intuitive and easy to setup. So maybe the OS is still crappy, but the apps are really good.
Anyways, that is my rant of the night, as I type this up in live writer and really liking it.
We had today several awesome presentations at CFObjective and our awesome jedi Curt, presented on MockBox in less than 6 minutes. We also had fun being his padawans. Awesome job Curt!

Canon is truly awesome. I bought a Canon Elph SD 100 back in december of 2003 and it has been a truly great camera. This year for some reason the lens gave out and I was truly dissapointed. I was not looking forward to chuggin another $450 for a new camera, since this one did what I need it. So I decided to write to Canon to see if they had any kind of repairs for this type of camera. In a matter of 3 days I had a paid return shipment on my door. I placed the camera and off it went to those nice Canon factories. In two weeks, I received a package with my camera fixed, FREE OF CHARGE!! For being a loyal Canon customer. MAN!! Is this customer service or what. Well, if not I would not even be writing this entry. So there you go, I think Canon is awesome, I am a true loyal customer now.
I just read this iPhone New Features by the Onion and it is really funny.
A friend of mine, Josh Highland,
Just directed me to his blog were he has a step by step tutorial on how to update an ipod’s harddrive. It is truly awesome and pretty straight forward. This is great if for example your hard drive dies!! You can easily replace it.
Just click here to link to Josh’s Blog.
It is a truly awesome entry.
