We are excited to host this month Matt Ingenthron, from Couchbase at our monthly ColdFusion user group in Cal Poly Pomona this August 8th at 7pm.  Here is a brief description of what he will present on:

Introduction to Couchbase Server, a NoSQL Document Database

Couchbase LogoCouchbase Server is a NoSQL document database for interactive applications. This session introduces Couchbase Server, the underlying distributed architecture, with a hands-on tour of Couchbase including online rebalancing while adding nodes to a cluster, indexing and querying and cross data center replication.

So if you are close to the area and want to come over, please do, we have FREE pizza, drinks and cool software raffles. I have been personally using Couchbase for a while now and absolutely love it.  We are even doing a blogging series about Couchbase over at the Ortus company blog as well.

Just a reminder that tomorrow May 19th, 2011 I will be presenting on WireBox dependency injection and aop at the Inland Empire User Group. So if you want to learn the basics of dependency injection or you are a guru already, come an check this session out! WireBox has been part of ColdBox since version 2.0 and has been powering enterprise applications with DI capabilities for years. Come and check out how WireBox can help you in your DI and AOP needs for ColdBox applications or for ANY ColdFusion application.

BlackBerry Playbook + Adobe Air by Kalen Gibbons

will be speaking about mobile application development with Adobe AIR.

He'll discuss how Adobe AIR makes it easy to develop a single

application for multiple platforms, including Android and iOS. In

particular, he will talk about his recent experience with developing an

application for the BlackBerry playbook. There will be a short

demonstration of the application and a Q & A period.

If you will be in the Southern California are near Pomona or LA during February 3rd, then you don't want to miss this meeting.  Terry Ryan,

Adobe Evangelist, will be leading our February 3rd, 2011 meeting.  Terry will be presenting on the BlackBerry

Playbook development with Flash Builder and ColdFusion as a back end for Mobile development.  There will be pizza, goodies and much more from what I hear, maybe even free books and schwag!

So if you are in the vicinity, drop by to our usual meeting space at Cal Poly Pomona starting at 6:15 pm to around 9 pm. We meet in room 5-16 of building 98C  (the C/L/A building): campus map.

Inland Empire User Group Holiday Bash

If you are close to Claremont,Pomona,LA area, come on by to our holiday bash this Saturday afternoon.

This shindig is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 19th at Pizza 'N Such in Claremont, which is located on the northeast corner of 2nd Street and Yale Avenue.

We have reserved their back room, which seats about 15-20 people, so we'll have a semi-private area to ourselves for total geekness and networking fun! We will be giving away some great prizes, including an Adobe software license (which can be used for a copy of ColdFusion 9!), some schwag, books, and I will be raffling a 1 day ColdBox course materials set, with awesome Bag!

If you are planning to come, please give us a shout using a comment in this blog or in our google group. Also, if anyone wishes to bring a friend/spouse/significant other please feel free, just add them to the head count.
